History of Banpresto
|
Welcome to the Banpresto Memorial webpage. This site is dedicated to preserving the history of the now defunct Japanese video game developer/publisher Banpresto Co., Ltd. Founded way back in 1977, the company is mainly recognized in the West for their mid-quality figurines based on anime characters, but in Japan they're best known for being a sizeable publisher of video games, mostly notably the Super Robot Wars series. Banpresto ceased to exist in its original form in 2008 when it was absorbed into Namco Bandai Games (now Bandai Namco Entertainment). This site covers the original Banpresto corporation, including its games, products, staff, and related topics, in order to preserve the history of this largely overlooked company. Though the company is not exactly known for always making the highest-quality games, Banpresto is still an important and beloved publisher, especially in its native country of Japan. The site does not cover the history or products of the second iteration of Banpresto that was recently folded into Bandai Spirits, as I don't believe it fits my scope (if you're out of the loop, considering reading this page).
