About this project

The Banpresto Memorial is a website dedicated to preserving the history of fallen Japanese game company Banpresto, a partly-owned subsidiary of toymaker Bandai. This site was only just created at the time I'm writing this; only a week ago! Technically the site itself has actually existed for a while now, I think since around 2018, but never really became anything until now (it used to just serve as my personal HTML sandbox of sorts). The Banpresto Memorial is sort of a homage to old game company fansites from Japan from the late 1990s to early-mid 2000s, both in its name and formatting. There's something oddly nostalgic about old and grainy websites, y'know? I'm by no means an expert when it comes to web design, so this is really the best I could do anyway!

So why Banpresto, of all things to make a fansite of? Well for starters, I think they're an important developer at the very least, and they're really the reason that crossover games are so plentiful in Japan and overseas, especially those that combine characters from all sorts of different media. They're also noteworthy for helping bring licensed children's characters into arcades, and for some really nifty anime toys and plushes. I noticed how hard it was to find info on the company's history and the products they made, so I decided to do something about it and make this website to be the most comprehensive Banpresto archive on the web. It's really just a passion project of mine. I'm not here to do it for money or fame or what have you, I'm here to do it to show my appreciation for this company. Don't worry, I'm not one of those ultra-obsessive fanboys. : )

Thanks for reading all of this, and I hope you'll learn something new from here.
